Running & Visualization

I’m big on running and visualization.
When I was in undergrad, I used to run around campus looking at all the buildings. Visualizing myself in class. Visualizing myself in lab. Visualizing myself in the library. Visualizing myself taking exams. Visualizing getting the exam back. Visualizing myself in a study room late at night. Whiteboard covered in marker. Tired. Hungry. Burnt out but still pushing…It was absolute obsessive thinking. But it ended up putting me ahead. I wanted it so bad.
Now I do the same thing at Medical School. I’ve been running the same route everyday where you can see the medical center the entire run. I just stare at it while I run and obsess. Wondering where these next 4+ years will take me. Or where I’ll take them. The medical center looks so beautiful to me. Every time I see it I admire it a little bit more. It’s hard to believe everything that happened in my life led me here so perfectly. People will read this and think I’m nuts, extreme, obsessed, probably too intense…but if you’ve found your actual purpose like I have - you’ll relate.
It’s a feeling you can’t explain. An impossible mission taking over your life. It’s the easiest and the most difficult thing you’ll ever do. You’re consumed by your craft in the most freeing way. It’s a beautiful addiction. Nothing about it is normal. It’s a twisted desire of seeing how far you can push it, how many lives you can touch, how close you can get to the real ‘you’. If you try to ignore it, it just gets louder. So I’ve stopped ignoring it and started following it…and I’ve never been more excited in my life.
Find what you’re meant to do and never stop pouring yourself into it.
